The History

Jason Wingate during the 2015 Production of
Aussie Spies and the Monstrous Mystery.

Aussie Spies is the creation of filmmaker, performer and visual artist Jason Wingate (Left).

In a course of 28 years, 'Aussie Spies' would evolve from his 1997 childhood film project, 'Adventures of Shannon and Jason: Mission Impossible', which was subtitled after the hit movie starring Tom Cruise, which had recently been a massive hit in cinemas at the time. â€‹

The film depicted Jason himself, and his childhood school friend Shannon as two secret agents chasing two 'KAOS Agents' for a stolen war machine plan.

The film however was never completed, and Jason developed a dream to continue what he started.

In 2002, Shannon and Jason began talking about the possibilities of pursuing a career in film making. However since Shannon developed a career of his own in the entertaining industry, it was a dream that was never meant to be.

In 2003, the 'Shannon and Jason' dream began to revolved into 'Aussie Spies'. Inspired by the Crocodile Hunter film 'Collision Course' starring the late Steve Irwin, Jason came up with an idea an Australian themed 'Mission Impossible' like action comedy series, which saw a team of Australian secret agents travel around the country on different top secret assignments, taking place in famous locations around Australia. But the initial concept wouldn't work out, since it proved difficult to get permission from these locations to feature them in the stories.

In 2005, Jason began to developed the 'S&J.Project' - short for the 'Shannon and Jason Project. This project would entail an existing  'Magpie Gully' theme park, which would not only be opened to the public in real life, but also used as a stage stage for the TV series 'Adventures of Shannon and Jason'. Once again, Jason and his childhood friend Shannon would portray themselves as two Secret Agents, officially arriving to Magpie Gully undercover as two park rangers to trap and investigate a local creature known as the Grassman. After writing the screenplays for the entire series, Jason finally approached with the project idea Shannon on the New Years season in 2007. Shannon declined the project however due to the concerns of lack in budget.

In 2015, Jason adapted the unpublished 'Shannon and Jason' series into what would have been the very first 'Aussie Spies' feature film. 'Aussie Spies and the Monstrous Mystery' was initially shot at EcoPark Fishing World in Luscombe QLD, in May 2015. The production was a complete disaster however, and following the advise of a film school teacher, Jason would later abandoned the project.

In early 2025, Jason received a calling from God to revive the project he begin 10 years prior. The new improved 'Aussie Spies' trilogy would now be the foundation for Cinetorium's 'Cinematic Realm', and set the stage for many prequels, sequels, spin offs and Public Events to come.
